Why You Should Call Every Lead: The One-Minute Advantage

Last week I hosted a mini mastermind session with a few of our clients, including Jacob from AZ Luxury Coach (one of the highest-performing bus operators we've ever worked with). The guy blew my mind. He shared how a single $125 airport lead turned into $20,000 in booked revenue… from a 1 minute call.

Just a quick call to feel out the lead, and it opened the door to a massive contract overnight.

Today’s newsletter breaks down exactly how he does it so you can apply this in your own business today.

✔ Why calling every lead gives you an unfair advantage

✔ How to qualify a lead in 45–60 seconds

✔ The big lesson from Jacob’s $20K “airport transfer”

✔ Why black car leads behave differently than bus leads

✔ How to use “value stacking” to beat the Uber comparison

✔ A mindset shift that keeps you from burning out

Why calling every lead gives you an unfair advantage

Jacob said something that really stuck with me:

“100% of black car leads are actually looking for transportation. They’re real shoppers.”

Translation?

Every lead wants a ride. The question is with who.

Most operators don’t call. They rely on text and email.

Jacob calls every lead… and fast.

Not 5 minutes. Not 10 minutes.

A few seconds.

And because almost nobody else is doing it, he immediately stands out.

How to qualify a lead in 45–60 seconds

Jacob’s average phone call lasts under a minute.

He isn’t trying to “sell.”

He’s just trying to feel out who he’s talking to.

Here’s the process:

  1. Call as soon as the lead comes in

  2. Ask a simple question to open them up

  3. Listen for:

  • Tone

  • Urgency

  • Group size

  • Purpose of trip

  • Budget sensitivity

  1. Give a ballpark price

  2. One of two things happens:

  • “Okay, sounds good” → continue

  • “But Uber is cheaper…” → mark as tire kicker → move on

That’s it.

He’s not wasting time sending full quotes to people who aren’t serious.

He’s not chasing leads who only want the lowest price.

He qualifies fast and ruthlessly.

The big lesson from Jacob’s $20K “airport transfer”

This one shocked me.

A woman filled out a form requesting a $125 airport transfer.

Jacob called her immediately.

During the call, she said:

“Actually… we need transportation for the whole event.”

Within hours, that turned into:

  • 5 buses

  • 3 Sprinters

  • 15 SUVs

  • … For a national broadcasting network attending Charlie Kirk’s memorial at the State Farm Stadium

Total booking: ~$20,000.

And here’s the kicker:

Jacob doesn’t even have a strong online presence.

They didn’t pick him because of SEO, Instagram, or Google reviews.

They picked him because on that phone call he sounded:

  • Confident

  • Experienced

  • Familiar with the venue

  • Reliable

  • And fast

Clients feel that level of expertise.

Why black car leads behave differently than bus leads

Jacob said something most operators never think about:

Black car leads → more serious but more price-sensitive

Bus leads → less serious but higher potential value

Bus leads are oftentimes “party shoppers.”

People drinking with friends, dreaming up ideas, looking for a price “just for fun.”

Black car leads are different:

  • They’re actually going somewhere

  • They will book with somebody

  • Many are just comparing price vs value

And the fastest way to show value?

Call them.

How to use “value stacking” to beat the Uber comparison

Linda, another Limo Marketer client, brought up the one dreaded phrase every operator hears:

“Uber is cheaper.”

It’s frustrating.

It’s annoying.

It’s discouraging.

Here’s what you can do about it:

Don’t fight it. Instead say…

“Totally understand, but here’s what you get with us…”

Then stack the value:

  • Guaranteed clean, newer vehicle

  • Professional, vetted chauffeur

  • Early arrivals

  • No surge pricing

  • No surprises with traffic

  • Actual customer service

  • Reliability for important events

  • Accountability if something goes wrong

Don’t beg. Don’t defend.

Just reframe.

And if they’re still shopping for the cheapest ride?

Marks them down as “tire kicker” and move on.

That discipline will keep you sane.

A mindset shift that keeps you from burning out

Black car operators burn out because they take “bad leads” personally.

Jacob doesn’t.

He made a good point during our mastermind session: “They’re wasting more of their time than mine.”

He’s not looking for $100 rides.

He’s looking for people who need:

  • Multiple days

  • Multiple transfers

  • Group movement

  • Corporate travel

  • Recurring bookings

Your best customers aren’t looking for the cheapest option.

They’re looking for someone they can trust.

And trust starts with a human voice.
